Hi Mitchell -- Welcome! Definitely read up as Mark suggested. You could also probably punch in "new to DC" or something into the search box and get a lot of hits. I was just going to add that depending upon what you mean by "good spots", there are numerous places within 1-2 hours of DC that offer excellent fishing. I own MD and VA licenses for that very reason ;). Everyone has a preference -- some people only want to go after big fish by driving 8-10 hours away and seldom fish around here, some prefer tiny, brushy streams with tiny brook trout, there are some carp specialists, striper fans, smallmouth, and others pretty much only fly fish for trout.

There's good fishing for warm water species along the James, Shenandoah (the river, not the park), and upper Potomac.....basically just come to the beer tie this Monday over at Whitlow's and you'll pick up all kinds of tidbits.
