{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: James River

Some friends went down there a couple weekends ago for a float trip when the cfs dipped to 1100 or so and said that carolina blue poppers and tequeely flies were good producers between Eagle Rock and Buchanan.  I have found the best fishing to be just under 1000cfs Right now it is right around 3000 cfs, way below flood stage, but still high enough to where I wouldn't expect a whole lot of success, but a lot can change between now and Saturday. If it stays dry, I think you'll find plenty of fish. That said, before moving up here, I would fish the upper James 5-6 times during the summer. Frankly, I find it easier than smallies on the Potomac and there is usually topwater action all day.

Headed there for a float trip Saturday: Glasgow to Snowden, about 30 miles upriver of Lynchburg. Anyone fished there lately? Thoughts on how it's fishing and fly recommendations? Thanks!
