{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Juniata Smallmouth Report 7/13/13

Two friends and I did a float this Saturday on the lower Juniata river above Harrisburg, PA. We were rented a canoe and shuttle from Riverfront Campground for two of us. Our third guy Ryan brought his SUP. He's just getting started in fly fishing, and may be posting on the forum soon!

Luckily the rivers up north were not as affected with all the rain we've been having here. Despite being rained on a little at first conditions were nearly perfect. The river was a little higher than average with just a little color, but still good visibility. The overcast sky kept fish active all day. In the morning we got some fish on yellow poppers. As the day progressed we got more fish on a McGinnis Extra Stout, including the nice 18 incher in the picture. The section we fished was a great stretch of water with many ledges, and riffles which held the most active fish. At the take out I was talking to some spin fisherman who said they got about 30-40 fish fishing senkos. We didn't get quite that many, but still had a great day!
