If you still have room for 27 April, I'm in.

Hey there:

I'm interested but confused…Your subject lines says April 27 but your "last call" email below says May 5.

Can you clarify?

The only carp I've caught was in a hotel lobby, and they wouldn't let me use a kayak…last time I stay there.  ;)

Thx,

Pete

Hey all - we are planning a TPFR Carp Hunting Day — Sat, April 27

Previously we posted that since TPFR is a charter member of FFI, we are encouraging FFI membership and will plan fishing days for small groups targeting species other than trout. (These trips are in addition the Gunpowder days which are open to everyone)

Well, we are happy to announce the 1st - a TPFR Carp Hunting Day.

When: Saturday, April 27     9 am - ish until ~ 3 pm
Where: The location will be within a 60 min drive of DC
Who:  Carp Hunting Day will be available only to FFI members and limited to 7 people.
Participation will be on a first come - first fish basis. If you sign-up, make sure you show up.

Details of location, permits, and fly info will be sent to participants the week before but here is what you need to know:

What to know (BEFORE you sign up):

  • We'll have at least 1 experienced Carp hunter to help us newbies
  • An orientation and instruction on how fish for Carp (and be successful) will be given
  • This is open to FFI members only.  Membership available here if you are not already an FFI member.
  • Each person needs a permit for the water we will fish (about $5 / day unless you purchase longer duration).  Info on how to purchase will be sent with the location email.
  • Kayaks / canoes and PFDs will be provided (thank you Wayne),
but the paddle distance will be ~ 30 ft and you can wet wade on a flat.
  • No Waders.  Prepare to wet wade and wear water shoes
Gear:
  • 5 - 8 wt rod
  • Floating line
  • Bass type leader:   7 - 9 ft,    8 - 12 # tippet
  • Net: a large one. Trout nets will be small and we will have a couple Carp appropriate nets on hand
Sooooo -- How do I sign up?
-- Reply back to me by clicking " Reply to Author"
-- The first 5 emails received stating  "I am an definitely on for the May 5, TPFR Carp Hunting Day " get the spots
--  I will email back confirmation
-- A few days prior to the trip you will receive an email with all the additional information needed

Again - This trip is open only to FFI members so don't delay - become an FFI member today.

If you haven't fished for Carp — well, it can be a hoot!   Hope to see you there.

Brook
