Previously we posted that since TPFR is a charter member of FFI, we are encouraging FFI membership and will plan fishing days for small groups targeting species other than trout. (These trips are in addition the Gunpowder days which are open to everyone)
Well, we are happy to announce the 1st - a TPFR Carp Hunting Day.
When: Saturday, April 27 9 am - ish until ~ 3 pmWhere: The location will be within a 60 min drive of DCWho: Carp Hunting Day will be available only to FFI members and limited to 7 people.Participation will be on a first come - first fish basis. If you sign-up, make sure you show up.Details of location, permits, and fly info will be sent to participants the week before but here is what you need to know:What to know (BEFORE you sign up):
Gear:
- We'll have at least 1 experienced Carp hunter to help us newbies
- An orientation and instruction on how fish for Carp (and be successful) will be given
- This is open to FFI members only. Membership available here if you are not already an FFI member.
- Each person needs a permit for the water we will fish (about $5 / day unless you purchase longer duration). Info on how to purchase will be sent with the location email.
- Kayaks / canoes and PFDs will be provided (thank you Wayne),
but the paddle distance will be ~ 30 ft and you can wet wade on a flat.- No Waders. Prepare to wet wade and wear water shoes
Sooooo -- How do I sign up?
- 5 - 8 wt rod
- Floating line
- Bass type leader: 7 - 9 ft, 8 - 12 # tippet
- Net: a large one. Trout nets will be small and we will have a couple Carp appropriate nets on hand
