Hi all - looking for advice on a first fly rod for my 9 yr old son. Mostly trout fishing, perhaps small bass and panfish in local ponds. Is it better to get a traditional 9' 5 wt or something a bit shorter to help with rod management. He's not the most coordinated kid ever, so was airing on side of a bit shorter, esp since most of the rivers we fish are on smaller side.
