Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Water for the C&O Canal

Folks may call me crazy but in the vicinity of Chain Bridge I saw what looked like a two and a half foot Muskie or pike cruising in the canal. I was watching a largemouth guard its spawning bed when all of the sudden a really long fish swam out of the murk for a couple seconds before disappearing again. I was right on top of it. Definitely wasn't a snakehead and I don't think it was a gar because I didn't see a long narrow nose. It also was darker and fatter than the pics of gars caught locally that I've seen. It happened fast, though. I tried to cast in the direction it went but nothing was biting. Whatever it was, if someone hooks it they'll be in for a surprise.
