The mill had a long history of air and discharge violations. I wouldn't say they've done a good job of keeping the river clean. I also wouldn't go as far as saying the mill feeds healthy nutrients into the river either unless you consider healthy nutrients as high nitrogen and phosphorus levels, coliform bacteria, spilled latex, and wastewater that meets legal limits in extremely diluted form but at undiluted levels would kill everything in the river.
I feel for the 700 jobs going away in an already depressed area of Garrett County, MD. If I was a member of the union up there I have no idea what I would think about doing next.

I think that mill has done a good job of keeping the river clean. Smells like S but the mill actually feeds healthy nutrients into the upper branch of the Potomac. Below the discharge points I have caught many super big rainbows and browns. Who knows what will happen once they turn it off.
