It seems that the snakeheads like to hang out in little pockets by the rocks on the edge of the river near fast running water.
-- I've been out there on nights where I have literally seen a couple dozen people all working the shoreline with spears or nets looking for snakeheads.
I also hear that they're good eating, but I have yet to catch one!
