Not sure what you consider "economical" but I recently used a TFO TiCr X 10-wt ($299.95) and I was super impressed with it. It also comes in a 9-wt. I don't remember the reel, but it was matched with a Scientific Anglers sink tip line (of which about 5' had of the shooting head had been removed) and it was a lot of fun to cast!

So I've been trying to do more surf fishing and I'm concerned my 7wt. Orvis Clearwater is just not enough for Long Island, Virginia Beach and possibly the Salmon river. Thinking about getting a 9 wt. setup but since I would only use it a couple times a year, I want to keep it as economical as possible. Thoughts or suggestions?
