I always tell people to join their local chapter if they want to make an impact in their own area, but the Northern Virginia TU chapter has consistently impressed me and surpassed my ideas of what a TU chapter does. If they didn’t meet all the way out in Vienna, I’d had gone more often.

After a few year hiatus, I am thinking of re-joining TU and was wanted to get people's take on the local chapters. How active are they? Types of projects? What are the meetings like? Would you recommend one over the other? I googled around a bit and couldn''t find a whole lot of info.
My reason for quitting in the first place was my local chapter consisted of a bunch of old dudes who never really did a whole lot other than get together and talk fishing.
