If you do a search on here you'll find a ton of posts about me chasing carp along the canal. If you've never done it, it's a lot of fun - sight fishing to big, spooky fish with small flies. Between locks 6 and 8 are more traditional sight fishing opportunities (think flats fishing) and from Fletchers to Georgetown you'll more frequently look for fish feeding along the bank this time of year. Additionally, there's plenty of sunfish, mostly small, and some largemouth bass. There are some huge bass in there, but I don't see decent sized ones frequently - then again, I'm never targeting them. You'll also be able to find some catfish (although nearly impossible to specifically target there) and there have been snakehead in the past (may not have gotten back in after it was drained).
