Elected to play hooky on Thursday. Strapped the kayak to the roof and headed off to the Patuxent River where it serves as the border between Prince Georges and Ann Arundel Counties. Put in at Governor Bridge and paddled to just upstream of the Rt. 50 overpass. Couldn't go any farther because the river was clogged with downed trees and other snags. Not a lot of current and the water was a bit murky. I'm sure in the summer the water's much cleared but also much lower. Water level was adequate to get past most snags though. My one rockfish (clouser) and the catfish (soft hackle streamer) came where there were visible current seams. Most of this stretch is very slow moving and probably better as catfish water. Nearly dumped the boat and yours at the very slick muddy put-in/take-out at the end of the day. And I have much to learn about anchoring in moving water.
