Ben, having grown up on the Cape, I never heard of any sort of useful bus or public transit systems. Maybe that's changed. I never fished the immediate Woods Hole area, but you can generally take two approaches anywhere on the Cape - either fish jetties on a moving tide (Ideally, finding one that is along a river/bay channel, but any jetty will attract fish), or walk the beaches looking for packs of birds (you'll usually find blitzing blues underneath, maybe a false ablie by then). I'm not sure what type of flats/wade-out areas are around there, but finding one might help get to some good areas too. Most public beaches will be completely packed and unfishable during the day, so you'll be limited to jetties if that's your only chance. There really are no rocky beaches on the south side of the Cape. There will be tons of boat traffic in the harbor area, so I would generally avoid that. If you have a heavier rod, bring it, but you can get by with an 8 weight. I used a 7 weight and managed.

Hi everyone,
I'll be in Woods Hole, MA for about a month and a half starting next week. Anyone have any advice for fishing the area? I've done the basic googling and it looks like stripers and blue fish will be my main targets from beaches and rocky shoreline where I can find public access. I'm planning on bringing an 8 weight with depth charge and floating line. No car and no boat means I'll be limited to the shore in the very local Woods Hole/Falmouth area, although buses could extend the radius a bit. Any info is much appreciated.
Thanks!
Ben
