Yeah, it is fun. Just to mix things up, it's nice to be on the water rather than in it. Point of Rocks gage too hight/too much flow today so I went to Ft. Frederick St. Park and Big Pool for the first time, http://binged.it/1Y8nPV4. Skunked. I did get some nice history lessons from the docents and rangers at Ft. Frederick.  Nice countryside.

It's pretty much a canoe/kayak hybrid - propelled by double bladed paddle rather than single. Old Town makes something similar these days. Very comfy seat and at ~55 pounds this old man can readily get it on the roof of his RAV4. Can I stand and cast in it: theoretically, yes. When I went to the demo day at Appomattox River Co last year, I tried a whole bunch of boats including standing up in them. I think I fell out of every one of them. Since I bought my boat last summer and following some amusing acrobatics (retrospectively that is) at the put-in/take-out I've been working on balance exercises. So, practically speaking, no. I certainly won't do it on moving water, flat water, well I'll wait to try when the water temp is higher. 

Next outing will be either Pax River, a little farther down stream or Mallows Bay. And I'll bring spinning gear with wacky worms for backup. ;-)
