Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Fishing 4MR - not where you think

Don’t bother.  Enjoy the day with family.  It’s not worth your time.

I used to live on Kenilworth, a few blocks from the park.  Local TU used to put 800+ trout in the creek early in the year for the kids day.  Kids only  were supposed to fish from 10am-noon, and families afterwards.  They’d put the fish in the Friday night before and come Saturday morning most of the fish were already poached out.  It’s pathetic.  I’ve seen guys with dip nets, cast nets, and heavy saltwater gear fishing.  Even heard that a portion of the net from the tennis courts across the trail was cut one year and used as a seine to haul out fish.

The other issues with 4MR up there is the fact that it gets a lot of street water runoff.  Chemicals aside, the pavement gets so hot that as soon as it rains and washes into the creek, every trout left dies when the temperature spikes.

Don’t eat heavy at the picnic.  When you’re done go to Wilson by George Mason Drive to Pupatella and get the best pizza in the Washington DC area.  Pray they have the Fig & Pig pie.

I've been invited to attend a picnic that will be held at the Bluemont Park picnic shelter.

When I google-mapped the location I found that it is on Four Mile Run creek between Wilson Blvd and Arlington Blvd (HWY 50).

Since I'm going to be there anyway I'm thinking about bringing along a 3wt and see if there are any bluegills in there.

Anyone ever fished that section?

Thanks,
Jim
