Looks like one to me -- I've never caught one in my life, but now I want to ;). Pumpkinseed are common like you mentioned, but that's a new one to me. I think if you love sunfish you can die happy.
-- I was there yesterday from about 7-11 trying out a 6' and a 6'6" glass rod. I didn't see anyone, but I was only in the vicinity of the outfall.
Sunfish and bass are fun on a short fly rod. A lot of people don't like them, but they're not too bad. All fishing rods are "toys" and the entire hobby is fairly pointless (catching fish and then letting them go), so who cares? I think I'll put the 6'6" to use in the park full-time this year.
