{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Think this is a redear?

Funny - did you see that purple bicycle hanging over the south bank where the cop always parks?  There were a lot of fairly hungry bass hanging out in 8" of water there.  Did the outfall produce yesterday after I left?  It was very productive Friday, but slower yesterday (at least for me).  I did better roaming the banks on both sides, still within sight of the outfall.

I consider 4MR a fairly easy place to study sunfish behavior.  Plus it jives with tpfr's "fish where everyone's poop is", local thing.

Lane, did you wade past two guys fishing just from the outfall? Gene must have just missed you. Scott and I got there a bit after 11.

Looks like one to me -- I've never caught one in my life, but now I want to ;).  Pumpkinseed are common like you mentioned, but that's a new one to me.  I think if you love sunfish you can die happy.

I was there yesterday from about 7-11 trying out a 6' and a 6'6" glass rod.  I didn't see anyone, but I was only in the vicinity of the outfall.

Sunfish and bass are fun on a short fly rod.  A lot of people don't like them, but they're not too bad.  All fishing rods are "toys" and the entire hobby is fairly pointless (catching fish and then letting them go), so who cares?  I think I'll put the 6'6" to use in the park full-time this year.

Thanks for posting a picture of a sunfish --
