Mark, I took your advise and hired a guided float fishing trip on the Kenai River with Travis and a wading fishing trip with Fly Bob on the Russian River. They both send they're regards (see photo). On both trips we caught plenty of Sockeye Salmon. After catching our limit of Sockeyes on the Russian within the 1st hr Fly Bob wanted to take me downstream to fly fish for Rainbows but that trek was quickly interrupted by a very large female Brown Bear with a cub. We stayed upstream the rest of the day catching sockeys all day long.

I worked on the Upper Kenai at Kenai Cache Outfitters and they can put together a solid Middle River Trip for you, but I would book it now. I would request Travis for that trip. He's a VA native who also served in the Army and now guides and lives up there. I've fished with him a ton when we had free time and he is really a great dude. I fyou wanted to do a walk in somewhere, Fly Bob is a local Cooper Landing legend. I was fortunate enough to have him as my AK trout mentor. He's an amazing fisherman and his fly tying/fishing passion will make you want to buy a tent and move out back behind the shop. He is also out of Kenai Cache Outfitters. Bob's trips have been featured in the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/07/magazine/the-sockeye- ). Kenai Cache also has the only Orvis store on the Peninsula. If those guys aren't available, Mystic Waters runs a good operation.salmons-last-swim.html?_r=0

Besides these fishing trips there are day long activities planned each day of the reunion including a glacier tour, whiter water rafting, and dog sledding. There are 2 days that I will not be participating in these activities, ie water rafting and dog sledding, which I could go fly fishing. It is my understanding that the rainbow fishing will be closed until 6/11 so it may be possible to go fish for them towards the end of the week long reunion. Do you have any recommendations of guides or outfitters in that area?
