Well, that's one of the best hikes in the park, so your starting off on the right foot. If you don't mind bushwacking, I'd focus on the areas between the upper and lower falls. The trail swings away from the run, and it's pretty rough moving, which of course means there's less pressure. And there is some good holding water in there. I've also seen a bunch of brookies up above the upper falls, higher than I thought it made sense. So basically just keep your eye out. I've had better luck (and worse hiking) on other runs in the area.
