{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Brook trout are biting now -- report

Hey -- just fished from dark-to-fairly dark with Beth and did very well with the early season brook trout.  We didn't know how it would go, but figured hiking and recon is always good if nothing else.  Beth actually destroyed them in a couple of pools so much that I stopped fishing so I could 'man the net', which I'm always willing to do to ensure she remains a fishing buddy ;).

Stoneflies were hatching all over the place, especially on the shaded edges of large rocks and along the bank.

I took the bizarre approach of trying to catch fish in the very shallow pools that most anglers would probably walk right by and not think twice about.  I get a kick out of that for some reason.  Surprisingly, most of these hold fish for the taking -- today I had good luck drifting a stewart spider under a dry fly, sometimes in just 10" of water.

We had a wonderful day!  Get out and fish 'em -- they cooperated with us today, so imagine it's just getting better from here.

(pics upload later-- too exhausted and dirty)
