Thinking of building a scrapwood jig this weekend to try it out. Buts isn't a furled leader going to have a much more significant profile on the water, and doesn't that kind of eliminate the purpose of having a long leader?

I started using furled leaders last season and love them. I've only ever furled my own from a single piece of 6lb flouro. I've never had it unravel, although I know that I can do a better job furling my next one. My only complaint is when I have to change tippit. I have to carefully snip off the knot at the loop of the furled leader, always a nervewracking proposition cause if I snip the leader the whole thing is garbage. I just ordered some tippet rings which I'm excited to try on my new homemade furled leaders to try and avoid this problem.

If I were fishing for a lot of larger fish with sharp teeth and I had to change leaders often, I might like it. For my freshwater fishing around here, I will stick with Nylon leaders or standard furled leaders.CarlOn Mon, Mar 3, 2014 at 8:54 AM, MattT <matthe...@gmail.com> wrote:

Seems like an easy and cheap way to build some leaders during the "thunder snow". I was pretty surprised how well it worked.
