I fished a day out there before a conference a few years ago. Fishing SD Bay was a lot like fishing Chesapeake bay, targeting grass beds and drop-offs, throwing closers and shrimp flies on 6-8 wt with intermediate lines, and catching fish analogous to what we have here. Yellowfin croaker, needlefish, some sea bass, other drums, and BONEFISH!! I'll look for the pics, but there are bonefish south of town. Not flats fishing, but picked up a couple mixed in with the others.
