If you listen to podcasts, Zach Matthews' Itinerant Angler had a great podcast on how to go about fly fishing in continental Europe.

Yep. Headed to Deutchland for a couple of yrs. My wife works for SAP. I did 3 tours (Army) there in the late 80's early 90's and did some trout fishing in the Black Forest (spinning gear) I remember having to go to a class and taking a rigorous test in order to get my license. You were also required to kill any catches immediately. My research shows that you still need to take a test to get licensed.Anybody fished in Germany recently? Tell me about it.
