The National Park Service Seeks Public Comment on the Draft Dyke Marsh Restoration and Long-term Management Plan/ Environmental Impact Statement
The George Washington Memorial Parkway has made available the Draft Dyke Marsh Restoration and Long-term Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that evaluates management options for the restoration of Dyke Marsh. The draft plan/EIS is open for review and comment for 60 days, concluding on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. A rescheduled public open house will be held on Wednesday, February 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Indigo Landing on Daingerfield Island, located at One Marina Drive Alexandria, Virginia 22314 (just south of Reagan National Airport). The draft plan/EIS and the newsletter are available on the NPS Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website at: http://parkplanning.nps.gov/dykemarshdeis.

The George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP), a unit of the National Park Service (NPS), made available today the Draft Dyke Marsh Restoration and Long-term Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement (draft plan/EIS) that evaluates management options for the restoration of Dyke Marsh. This EIS is being prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA), and other applicable laws, regulations and policies.
The draft plan/EIS is open for review and comment for 60 days, concluding on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. As part of the EIS process, GWMP staff has prepared a newsletter that provides background about the project, describes the alternatives considered, and provides information about how to comment on the project. The draft plan/EIS and the newsletter are available on the NPS Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website at: http://parkplanning.nps.gov/dykemarshdeis. Hard copies of the newsletter, as well as a limited number of hard copies of the draft plan/EIS, are also available at park headquarters. GWMP will host a Public Meeting at Indigo Landing Restaurant on Daingerfield Island on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A short presentation will begin at 7:00pm. The rest of the meeting will be an open house format for the public to ask questions, learn more about the preferred alternative and submit written comments. All are welcome to attend.

While you can ask the NPS in your comment to withhold your personal identifying information from public review, the NPS cannot guarantee it will be able to do so.
