I have never had this site at my disposal, so I was never able to asked truly educated fly fisherman this question. Okay, so I am heading up to PA to visit family tonight, and will be there for around five days. Near my house is a small pond, that somehow never freezes. In that pond ( private so I know they are still there ), are two grass carp that are easily four feet long. I see them every-time I bass fish this pond. I have tried everything I could think of to catch them, with no luck. keep in mind these are GRASS carp, not regular carp. I have tried bead head nymphs, regular nymphs, midges, minnows, dry fly's, creature baits, and just about every other thing I own. Of coarse I realize that they are grass eating carp, so I was just trying these baits to try them. I tied a fly with 3 pieces of grass on it haha. I tied a fly with a little piece of moss I found, and nothing. so I switched to corn, and bread. nothing. I have been trying to catch these two fish for well over a year and absolutely cannot.
If anyone has ANY knowledge of catching "grass" carp. please. please help me out I need to land one of these monsters.
Thanks alot
Tyler Lucas
