kayak rod
I was told to get a longer rod, so now I fish from my little yellow SINK with a 10' 5wt. Now that I have learned to keep the stroke short enough and wait for the backcast,it works a treat and is lighter than the 7wt. I'm told that if my flies aren't too big, nothing huge is going to bite them... So far only sunfish, but gee, it's a lot of fun! Steve is right--there are an awful lot of things tied down with various bungee cords and strings in case I turn over, but a Scotty mount takes the rod right out of the 'yak. I think they make a system to mount them on an inflatable.

I've not had much trouble with a 9' rod, it just takes some practice and is
much less forgiving for your back cast height and line speed compared to
