{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: 4 mile chocolate milk

Were you out there yesterday? I drove across the bridge and noticed someone was out there towards the middle.

If its not too windy today around 4 or so, I packed my stuff and am going to give it a go.

i didn't have much luck there yesterday either until about 4.  With the water higher than normal at low tide, I found the area just downstream of the outflow pretty productive.  I caught 4 LMB and a bunch of huge bluegill.  I didn't really see much with the water being so stained, but I think I caught a tire when I was downstream of you (near the power poles).  There is a black wooly bugger in the tire now since it was too deep for me to reach down to retrieve it.

If you almost hooked a carp, you've done better than I have in trying to catch one ;).

I pulled up about a 6' clear plastic tarp the other day, but managed to get my fly back.  You never know what you'll get around here.

Almost forgot. I did land a men's large grey cotton glove. I think it was a righty. Not much of a fighter. So, I wasn't completely skunked. 😏

Went to 4MR Wed. to work on my casting and try out my hideous wooly bugger I tied on a #6.  About 20 cast in and I missed a huge carp.  I've got to get this hook set thing down!  Felt the fish on my line when I attempted to lift for my back cast. Thought I was hung up, saw a the fish roll and half a tail fin.

No other bites all day.  Saw a couple of bass hit something on the surface but that was it.  Nice and warm so getting skunked didn't feel so bad.  BTW, I spent an hour with Rob Snowhite and his daughter.  I asked Rob to spend an hour with me to help me get through my fly fishing learning curve.  Great time and very helpful.
