{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Atlantic Sturgeon Return?

BTW - I sometimes fish for trout, and I'd love to catch snakehead or carp....or SM bass.  So I have no personal, moral issue with it ;).  It's just something I find interesting with how we choose to manage waters.

Why not?  Anyone fishing for brown/rainbow trout around here is actively supporting the stocking of non-native species.....the sturgeon appear to meet this criterion (at least genetically), so why be ambivalent?

Stock it!  Genetic integrity be damned!  ;)

All,

This story on the possibilities of returning Atlantic Sturgeon to the Potomac River was in yesterday's Post. Since they are such notorious bottom-dwellers I don't know how they would do to fly fishing but thought it is an interesting barometer to the health of the Potomac River system.
