I dont know why autocorrect turned "shorter leader" into "whiter leader" but I meant shorter. If the leader is too long, the fly will be closer to the surface than the sinking line, which isn't the point of using a sinking line.

There was a virtual shad fest on 2/24/22 that I think will also be posted.Cheers,Thanks for helping me out that weekend. Looking forward to more outings…Shad season is coming! What kind of line is recommended for shad, sink tip or full sinking? I have a 9 foot 5 wt and thinking about overlining to a 6 wt line to get the line down faster. Thoughts?--On Mon, Feb 21, 2022 at 9:46 PM Regan Burmeister <reganebur@gmail.com> wrote:Thanks to everyone for coming out Sunday to the Gunpowder. It was a beautiful day, quite brisk in the morning. Thanks especially to Richie and Joe for the breakfast pancakes and coffee.Personally, I blanked. I had one grab (I prefer to swing and strip (no, not that kind of activity)), and that was it. I tried hard, working downstream from the parking lot maybe 300 yds, presenting to all kinds of holes and structure, thinking for sure some fish would play. Nothing doing. We will have another such trip soon, upcoming is shad season.--Regan
