We have the answer: Chris Campo caught the first hickory shad today, March 7, a minute or two before Alex Binsted was able to notify me at 5:46 pm. Let me know otherwise! There should be better fishing on Sunday with much improved weather. Please report back if you have success, as I am preparing the first NCC-TU Shad Report of the season. We still need to honor the angler with the first hickory shad on a fly rod -- before Beer Tie if possible.

What's the thinking on when shad will show up. I think it was 15th last year but given that blossoms are coming out will it be earlier?
