{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Best place to take a first timer?

I would take them somewhere they can fish with a floating line and ideally, a dry fly.  So not shad fishing, especially if you want to wade.

I'm looking for some help from the collective wisdom of the group-

I have a friend who wants to learn to fly fish (he's been a spinner his whole life). I'm thinking of teaching him the basic cast and taking him out on Saturday. Any suggestions on the best place to take him? We could try for shad if they're still out there. Maybe wading if the water level gets down far enough.

Any advice would be most appreciated!

Thanks!
