Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Straight from the Biologists mouth. Big Bass in Fairfax.

I've heard stories about some massive crappie or of Huntsman. More reason to check it out now.

A few weeks ago I ran in to a county biologist at Huntsman lake in Springfield.  Knowing that this lake was drained and only recently filled, I wanted to pick his brain on the counties plan for restocking.

He gave me some great info that I want to share here.

1.  When they drained Huntsman, they took all of the fish they could catch and released them in to nearby Lake Mercer.
2.  Huntsman has been restocked, but only with sunfish.  They aren't planning on stocking bass until year 3.
3.  They recently drained another lake in the area but I can't remember the name (i think it was either Royal or Woodglen).
When they drained this lake they separated the bass, all of the large bass went to one lake, and all of the small ones went to Lake Accotink.
4.  All of the large bass they took out of the recently drained lake, they released in to nearby Lake Barton.

The biologist made it very clear to me that there were some very big bass released in to Barton, and allot of them.
Lake Mercer should be fishing well with all of the added fish from Huntsman.

Hope this helps.
