Here are the regulations for backcountry camping in SNP. Fires are not allowed unless you are at a AT trail hut or day use hut.

Since SNP is a ntional park, isn't open camping allowed anywhere within the park boundaries? I've had that mentioned to me a few times from fishing buddies but never had the gusto to just post up somewhere. plus not sure what status is on open fires on unimproved sites.  

ALSO, Americans do a lot of eating while sitting in cars, looking out of windows made me LOL pretty hard at my desk.
