I live on the creek and fish it 3-4 times a week after work. We also put the beater canoe in the lake sometimes when we don't want to drive out of town. There are a wide variety of fish in the lake and stream, though most are small. The other day Beth and I hiked *nearly* the entire stream up to King Arthur and located a lot more trout holding spots that we didn't know about before. I also spent some time casting to some super-aggressive (spawning) chubs and had a blast.
-- One rule for me is I won't go within 48 hours of ANY rain event, even fairly moderate rain. The stream really becomes turbid quickly, and it's one of those streams that doesn't fish well at all after any amount of rain.

Also, you won't get too far up into the creek from the lake by canoe, and not much further by kayak. After about 100 yards (if you manage to navigate through the downed wood and tangles...with joggers on the right bank) there are several shallow gravel bars you'd have to carry over. If your purpose is to fish, there's really no sense in doing that since you'll be scraping bottom and banging into stuff, scaring everything out there.
That's my opinion/experience anyway -- it's decent enough if you know what you're getting into.
