Todays Urban Monster!!
So first I must publicly appologize to Dan, as I left Orvis today and got in my car after grabbing some flies, it hit me who the guy behind the counter talking about trips to belize, beer tie and helping everyone he could is. My appologies for not recognizing that.
So I threw a dart at a map and Im going to head up to Leesburg and try Big Spring Branch tommorow morning. Why not alittle rehersal after two weeks in the office, so I went back to the only thing I really know in this area, Holmes Run.
By 3:15 the sun had already made its way behind the trees and the water was pretty dark so I went with bright stuff. Hit a few spots I had fished a couple weeks ago but only one produced, very well for an after work speed round. 8 total but the beast is above. I know some of you are chuckling...but I was excited when out of know where he set his own hook and you'll chuckle again when you see what he took. On the far right of the below picture. The middle section of an electric chicken swim bait. The nymph to the left was about 6 in above.
Something that was cool also was that after the sun went down alot of the fish started rising. I didnt have a headlamp so I was pretty ineffective at trying to retie something for the top but it was intresting to watch but very frustrating to then walk away. Animal control was walking around checking out the area and there was another dead deer up river from me, but there were fish there. Very suprised that Im not encountering more folks out there.
If anyon has any info or suggestions about Leesburg I would appreciate it, if not youll read about it tomorrow night. No you wont, Beer Tie!!!! is going down. It will be my first, hoping to learn how to tie my first fly.
Cheers, Safe travles,
Bret
