It's about a half hour drive from either Luray or Front Royal, but for the last two summers, I've been loving the intimacy of the North Fork, especially Seven Bends State Park near Woodstock, which has two main access points. The smallmouth aren't huge, but the water is varied over this short stretch, and it's wadeable anytime the flow is below 500 on the Strasburg USGS gauge.
