Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Wine cork Popper Flies

I bought new corks from michaels
I rough shaped them with a Dremel
Then i put it in the drill.... and smoothed the shape out with sandpaper
made the slit with a razor blade (i heated the razor blade with a lighter, not really sure why)

If you're willing to coat them with epoxy, balsa works really well.   Small stoppers from https://www.jelinek.com/  are what Walt used to use for Walt's poppers.

I have very limited experience tying cork bugs/poppers. Corks from champagne/prosecco bottles seem to work well.

Talking to Chuck  and William, before Chuck passed away,  you should use new corks.   You can frequently get them from Michael's or anywhere that sells wine making supplies.

I'm looking at trying my hand at tying some of these.  Looking for hints and links to helpful YouTube videos.  I've got plenty of corks (for now), but wanted to reach out to y'all before i started tying.
