Welcome Trev,
-- A lot of good advice already given. I noticed you mentioned pike - unfortunately not many of those around here (some of the Baltimore water supply reservoirs have them), but if you are willing to drive about an hour to hour and a half from your location, you can find some good pickerel fishing. Not as big as pike on average (but can still reach 24-30"), but it's the same exciting style of fishing. Some sort of watercraft is helpful for fishing most of the swampy places they frequent. Worth a try if you find yourself missing Northerns!

Hey guys,I am new to the DC area as far as fishing goes, I just started working at Orvis (with Art), and was an avid fisherman back in Iowa with a spinner and baitcaster, but have made the switch to fly fishing. I love fishing for smallmouth, northern pike, and walleye. My associates told me to post on here to see what is the best area within an hour of Arlington to fish? Appreciate any help!Trev
