Oh, no Jim -- I'm just messing around ;).  I'm sure if you plotted the blooming against the shad run you could probably correlate the two for sure, possibly with some noise depending upon the year.  That's a totally reasonable comment to make.  

I had a sarcastic friend as a child (hard to believe right?) whose Dad used to always say that Christmas came in April and I just happened to remember it when I read your post.

Am I missing something? I thought that maybe if Douglas was interested in looking into a correlation between the cherry blossoms and shad, then he would've been equally as interested in one between shad and dogwood trees.
