Something else you might try is one of the Teeny lines for swinging stuff.  I've been experimenting with a BS-100 lately and like it for wade fishing.  I was looking for a line I could fish while wading (w/o a stripping basket), which would "count down" in calm areas, and which would also sink a bit for swinging flies in current.  The running line floats, making it far better for wading than the int. running lines on other shooting systems.  It also seems to be pretty sensitive to strikes fishing the little streamers I like.  I have a "streamer tip" line that *works, but isn't much better than a floater in my opinion....this 20' sinking head is a lot better.

I am assuming that when you say swing you are talking about fishing the typical down and across like you would for steelhead.
