{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Potomac River

Although I normally go there to fish the canal for carp, there's some good Potomac access at C&O canal lock 8. there are some pretty clearly marked trails between the C&O canal trail and the Potomac, toward lock 7. Watch out for the poison ivy and stinging nettle; there's a ton of both. (I'm still recovering from a carp/ivy entanglement from a month ago.) If you get it on you, immediately wash off in the Potomac.

If you're going to wade, you're probably way less likely to be warned/cited if you go during the week rather than on the weekend - not that I'm advocating that you wade, of course. Or am I?

The bigger question is where else can you fish on the Potomac.  Look at the C&O canal park in MD.  There are several parking spots where you can then walk down to the river.  There may still be the crazy rules about wading, but you can certainly fish from the shore.

I guess I am missing something. How do you get to Fletcher's Boathouse. Last Sunday it looked like one way traffic when I tried to pull in where my GPS indicated. Where else on the Potomac can I fish from the bank? I am open to any species, but lacking a boat limits what I can get into.
