{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: new to Virginia

I have to put in a shout out for Beaver Creek as well between Frederick and Hagerstown, MD. I caught a few browns there on Saturday, even with higher flows. You can wade pretty easily there, but you generally won't really need to.

Good luck and welcome!

My 2 cents - when I first started exploring the area, I found the NOVA TU chapter's "fish with a member" trips to be a great way to find locations and learn where to park or how to access streams. They fish VA, MD and PA streams throughout the year.  You can Google their website for more info and if you're not a member how to join.

I just fished Jeremy's Run in the SNP last Wednesday and the brookies were still biting. In July the Yellow Breeches in PA has a white fly hatch in the evenings that is a real blast to fish and Mossy Creek in VA has great trico hatches.  You can reach the PA limestone streams in about the same time it takes to drive to the VA mountain freestone streams, so there are plenty of options and opportunities all year round if you're willing to drive at least 2 hours and pay out of state fishing license fees. There are also plenty of books out there with directions to trout water in the 3 states (and WV).
