Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Renting a Boat with a Fletchers Spring Fishing Pass

Brian -- Thank you! It's good to get confirmation that my assumptions were not off base.

All -- I welcome any other experiencial advice on renting and fishing from a boat out of Fletchers Cove.  We are mainly targeting shad like most are this time of year, and I've watched the Shad Night presentation and have been reading up on the many past reports.

BTW, I noticed in some of the older reports from about a dozen years ago, renting one of the Fletches boats was only $22 for the entire day.  Now it's $136 for only four hours.  That's quite the increase!

Tight lines, everyone.

Hello all  (I checked past group discussions and didn't find any related info, so...),

I have some questions about the Fletcher's Spring Fishing Pass which appears to cost $230 for the season. I have my assumptions on what the answers are but looking for experienced locals that can confirm.  I've never purchased one of theses passes before or rented a boat at Fletchers, so please bear with me.

1) Is there an additional cost to reserve a rowboat at Fletchers Boathouse after purchasing the season pass?  I see on the reservation page that the option for an all day rental noted as "valid for Fletchers Fishing Pass holders only" shows a price of $224.  To me, this implies that having a spring fishing pass entitles the holder to reserve the boat for a full day, but then must pay an additional $224 to rent the boat.  Is this the case, OR will the rental price just zero out after selecting the reservation and adding the pass number?

No additional charge!  But remember to tip the dock workers.

2) The details page shows "Passes do not guarantee a boat."  Does this mean that if I book a reservation for a boat say at 11 AM, the reservation may be cancelled because all the boats have been rented out before that time?  OR can I expect the boat to be available at 11 AM as booked?

If you book a reservation, you will get a boat.  But on some weekends, you may not be able to get a reservation - it gets busy!

3) I plan to take my family with me on the boat, does every person on the boat need to have a season pass, or just the one person reserving the boat?

Just the person reserving the boat.

4) Does the rental of the boat include life preservers for everyone onboard?

Yes it does!

Thanks for your time and attention to read and response to my questions.

Sincerely,

Andrew.
