I took my lil brother down to the confluence of the Rappahannock and Rapidan when he was 10. The wading and hike in were easy for him, I just carried all the gear and water and snacks. He was already hooked on the sport tho, so that might be a key factor I take for granted.
Thanks,

I've never been, but would like to try some smallmouth fishing with an 8 and 11 year old. Are there any spots where this is feasible? Obviously I am willing to trade quality of fish for ease of access.--
