I’m sorry I haven’t gotten around to this before now, but I want to send a belated, but hearty, thanks to those members of the TPFR who participated in the Fly Tying Marathon on behalf of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing last Saturday. Particular and great thanks go to Dan Davala for organizing and leading this event. As always, Dan is a wonder! Also great thanks to Rob, Justin, Misha, Gene, Aaron, Beth, Scott, Matt, Terry and the many others whose names I regretfully can’t remember. You tied about 1,000 flies which will be sent to PHWFF programs around the country for wounded warriors and vets to use. You also, through the raffle of Orvis-donated items, raised $630. A terrific achievement! It was a wonderful day at Port City Brewery and our thanks to them for hosting us.
We plan to do this again next year, probably around this time, again in conjunction with the Ft. Belvoir and Quantico programs, and hope to have other PHWFF programs join us. Dan and I are also discussing doing this again later this year. We’ll let you know what we work out.
We invite your comments, particularly on areas we can improve to make this an even better event.
So, again, THANKS! You’ve done a wonderful thing for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing and the warriors it serves.
