I always wondered why there were no outfits that came with extra pieces to convert a rod into a "shorty".  For instance, if you had a 4-piece 9' rod, you could switch out the middle two pieces for a single piece with a more aggressive taper, turning it into a 6'6" rod.  It would mess up the flex a bit, but you aren't really using rod bend in those tiny stream casts.

Dan, if Orvis starts making this I want a cut!
