Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: fishing after work tonight?

I have no problem divulging, I'm just not 100% sure! I believe we started at the first(?) bridge and went upstream, but realized after a few pools that we were fishing behind someone (the pools were fishing "weird" according to my guide, then we found wet footprints on some rocks), so we jumped up to the next (second?) bridge and went upstream from there.

If you dont want to divulge where on the Rap you were, but if you wouldnt mind me asking where on the river you were?  I've fished that river for a decade and almost always fish from the first bridge all the way up to the Camp.  6' 1wt is what i carry on brook streams.  i got a deal on it when they first came out and its been my most favorite purchase ever.

I went out to the Rapidan this past Sunday on a guided trip. Weapon of choice with this guide for a "newbie" is a 8' or 8'6 4wt (that way if they aren't good at casting, the length can help get the fly in position), but for the more experienced casters, a 7 or 7'6 2 or 3wt. Apparently most of the brook trout streams are extremely low right now, so hopefully they got some rain out of these storms that moved through. I still managed to get double digits of 4-6" fish and 4 8-9" brookies. Beautiful fish.

TFO does offer some conversion kits for a few of their rods.  On the BVK series they have a conversion kit to take the 8' 3wt to a 10' 3 wt. On the TICR x rods you can turn the standard 9' 7 or 8 wt single handed rod into a 11'3" two handed rod.  I would be interested to hear from someone who has either of these to know how they perform.

Anyone interested in fishing sunset today?  Was out at White Oak Run in Shenandoah this weekend and brought the fly rod, got skunked. Naturally all I've been able to think about today is hooking into some fish...
