Join TPFR March 25th-26th on an informal Steelhead Trip fishing Salmon River Pulaski, New York
This is not a guided or instructional . One needs to have basic fly fishing knowledge. Although I'm sure experienced Steelhead Anglers on the trip will be happy to share tips and insight. Some of the most productive techniques are swinging flies, indicator nymphing and bottom bouncing.
You are responsible for providing all of your gear/equipment.
This by no means is a comprehensive gear list just covering some of the basics.
Gear List
7wt or 8wt rod(s)
matching reel(s) preferably large arbor. Floating line. Appropriate leaders and tippets. Non-toxic split shot .
Flies: egg patterns in a variety of colors and sizes, large nymph patterns. Variety of streamers: zonkers, woolly buggers, intruders, popsicle flies, alevin and fry imitations,
chest waders (preferably neoprene)
with cleated boots
wading staff
landing net
hemostats
warm fingerless gloves, moisture wicking long underwear. Other appropriate warm clothing for fishing in cold conditions.
New York State Fishing licence : can either be online purchase or buy licence in person at any one numerous retail stores in the area
Staying at Deer Creek Motel. Pulaski New York. You are responsible for making your own room reservations. Besides Deer Creek Motel there are numerous other places to stay around the Salmon River
The Salmon River, Pulaski New York. Is approximately an 8-hour drive from the DMV doing the speed limit.
We would be leaving the DC area sometime in the afternoon/evening of the 24th. Returning the night of the 26th.
Fishing all day Saturday, fishing half a day on Sunday and then driving back.
