I'll add to that - the flows were low for the Savage (45 cfs), which I think made for better fishing. When that river is running high, it's very hard to wade out. Sweet spot is 40-70 CFS imo.On Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 5:34:04 PM UTC-4 Patrick Hynes wrote:Shop is still there - Savage River Outfitters. I had an excellent day catching healthy 14-16 in. browns there a few weeks ago. Tiny BWOs hatching all over, but most of the fish I landed were on midge droppers, red/green sz. 18.On Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 12:30:29 PM UTC-4 Doug Graebner wrote:There's a fly shop on the Savage by the cabins, or was when I was there last-dunno if it's still around. Second the cleats and wading staff. The North Branch can be waded in the little nubbin upstream from Barnum but you'll need to be extremely careful-it's less slippery than the Savage but deeper and faster. There's also the Yough. On Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:19:22 AM UTC-4 r...@robsnowhite.com wrote:Savage is the most slippery river I have ever fished. Big cleats and a wading staff are a must. The Savage River, Casselman River and North Branch of the Potomac River are all clustered around Western MD and offer some great opportunities for trout and smallmouth. Here is a link to my blog post covering the Savage and North Branch of the Potomac. Enjoy! Gregg RockettOn Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 8:33:17 AM UTC-4 Dana R. Trout preferred but if close will consider wadeable smallmouth fishing - no boat access though we will be staying on Cheat Lake.Thank you for any suggestions - also willing to go to western MD but totally unfamiliar with that area as well as we are new in the mid-Atlantic.Dana--
